Timeline: May 2004

May 5 Two laboratory researchers from National Institute of Virology Laboratory (NIVL) in Beijing who are suspected of SARS did not conduct SARS research; therefore, it is not clear where the source of SARS was from. The laboratory under investigation was closed on April 23 while most of the staff was quarantined.
May 19 Two of the nine cases were direct contacts with the student at NIVL, while the other five were linked as contacts with the nurse.
